The Futures team of Careers Advisers in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire provided crucial support to Waitrose staff in Stevenage over the summer, as the store was closing down. This included redundancy support and retirement support.
Careers adviser Sally Scott delivered both of the 3 hour workshops to more than 50 members of staff, “Having worked at Waitrose for the past 35 years I was worried about finding a job outside the partnership and how my age may affect my future. My confidence and prospects have definitely improved. I have a much better idea on where I’m heading and how to get there.” Adrian, an ex-Waitrose staff member
The Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire team also joined forces with TCHC, a training provider who offer funded qualifications for those facing redundancy. 32 of the 50 have now started a Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills course, with several of the learners receiving new job offers since training.
