Stevenage Borough Council has appointed Craig Miller as its new Assistant Director for Stevenage Direct Services.
Craig joins from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, where he was Head of Community Protection and Enforcement. During his seven years there he managed services including waste management, trading standards, commercial services and emergency planning.
At Stevenage, Craig is responsible for Stevenage Direct Services and is the final member of Stevenage Borough Council’s Strategic Leadership Team to be appointed. The council recently carried out a review of its senior management team and appointed Assistant Directors to help deliver the council’s priorities outlined in the ‘Future Town, Future Council’ programme.
Stevenage Direct Services is dedicated to looking after the council’s in-house frontline services for residents that include waste and recycling, street cleaning, housing repairs, garages and parks.
Cllr Joan Lloyd, Executive Member for Resources, said: “As a co-operative council, we work with local organisations, residents and communities to shape local services rather than impose things on them. We’re proud of our in-house services and Craig’s appointment means we can continue making important contributions to the lives of Stevenage people. His enthusiasm and experience will help us develop new plans to further improve these services. I wish him every success at Stevenage Borough Council.”
