The Kiosk at Howard Park in Letchworth was damaged on Thursday 8 November when a bin next to the kiosk and the shutter of the kiosk itself were set fire to. A number of empty cans and bottles were found near the scene.
The Fire Service were alerted at 7pm and they visited the site and extinguished the fire. The police were also called out and Officers at North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) are working with the police to track the perpetrators down. This is the second time in recent weeks that anti-social behaviour has taken place at Howard Park, with the shutter at the Kiosk having been set on fire two weeks ago.
Cllr David Barnard, NHDC’s Executive Member for Leisure, said: “There is no excuse for this kind of selfish behaviour. Such thoughtless actions have an effect on those who use the park as well as the tax payer who ultimately ends up paying. If you witnessed anything, please contact the police”.
The Police have been notified and witnesses are encouraged to come forward with information by phoning the police non-emergency number on 101 and quoting crime reference number: 4154259/18.
